“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to
have tried to succeed.”
We believe that a Christian is someone who is no better, or deserving than anyone else, who has been rescued from sin and its consequences by being washed (cleansed from sin and shame), sanctified (set apart from sin and shame and to the Lord), and justified (declared righteous by God)—all through Christ’s death and resurrection and the power and presence of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us (1 Cor. 6:9-11). As His adopted sons and daughters, there is nothing we can do or add to our salvation. (1 Timothy 2:6, Ephesians 2:8-9) Knowing and being known by God in Christ is the meaning of life. (John 17:3, Philippians 3:10)
There is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator, and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving, and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent – one being in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)
The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21). It tells us who God is, who we are, and what our purpose is. (Genesis 1:27-28, Isaiah 46:9, 1 Corinthians 2:13, 1 Corinthians 15:28, Isaiah 40:8, 2 Tim 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, yet we willfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. Because of this, sickness, death, and judgment entered the world and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of sin (Romans 6:23 5:8–9; Titus 3:5).
The Lord Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God (John 10:33), was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35), and is God’s Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s kingdom on earth. (Matthew 17:2, Matthew 23-25) He was crucified for our sins and died for us (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9), was buried, resurrected (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4), and ascended into heaven (Mark 16:19), and is now alive today in the presence of God the Father and in His people. He is the “true God” and “true man.” (1 John 5:20)
We are saved by God’s grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to a relationship with God through believing in Jesus. (1 Timothy 1:15-16) The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and adopts us as we enter the kingdom of God (John 3:16–19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:8–10, Matthew 19:28, Titus 3:5)
In the ongoing, sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life and minister supernaturally (Romans 8:13–14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19–20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18). The baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 1:4-8 and 2:4, is poured out on believers that they might have God’s power to be His witnesses.
The victorious, redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides freedom from the power of the enemy – sin, lies, sickness, and torment (Isaiah 53:5).
The people of God exist to carry on the ministry of Jesus and further advance His kingdom in unity. (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12–13, Galatians 3:26–28).
Heaven and hell are real places. There will be a resurrection of the lost and the saved, the one to everlasting death and the other to everlasting life. (John 5:28–29).
God wonderfully foreordained and immutably created each person as either male or female, their biological and intended sex. These two distinct yet complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26–27).
Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as described in Scripture (Genesis 2:18–25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2–5; Hebrews 13:4). We believe that God’s command is that there be no sexual intimacy outside of marriage between a man and a woman.
